The Eddie Aikau Massive Wave Invitational, also referred to as “The Eddie,” is an invitation-only surf competitors held at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. The competition is held in honor of legendary Hawaiian surfer Eddie Aikau, who died in 1978 whereas trying to rescue a fellow surfer throughout a winter swell. The Eddie is likely one of the most prestigious and difficult huge wave browsing competitions on the planet, and it is just held when the waves attain a minimal top of 20 ft.
The Eddie was first held in 1984, and it has been held sporadically since then, with solely 10 contests being held in whole.
