Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish vacation commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem through the Maccabean Revolt of the 2nd century BCE. It is usually often known as the Pageant of Lights or the Feast of Dedication.
Hanukkah is well known by lighting a menorah, a candelabra with 9 branches, one for every evening of the vacation. The menorah is lit on the primary evening of Hanukkah and a further candle is added every evening till all 9 candles are lit on the final evening. Hanukkah can be celebrated by consuming conventional meals akin to latkes (potato pancakes) and sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts).
